SCREAM FACTORY ANNOUNCES REMASTERED HAMMER FILMS CLASSIC!

NEWS: US Label Scream Factory have announced they are to put out Hammer's Dracula Prince Of Darkness (1966) starring Christopher Lee., Francis Matthews and Barbara Shelley.

ON THE FACE OF IT a REMASTERING of any Hammer Film is always good news, especially if it stars Christopher Lee! But, as sales of some of the Hammer catalogue have proved in the past, the releasing of a title that has already been released many times before, is a gamble. The success of the Warner Brothers box set a few years ago, was a blu ray triumph. Even though the package didn't include any extras, the titles themselves and the REGION ZERO option that they gambled, made the whole deal worth every penny. Already the news has been shared at our  FACEBOOK PCASUK FAN PAGE  and the response is mixed. Maybe the extras, when finalised, will hopefully give this release, the chance to empty the stocks, and encourage other Hammer titles to get the same remastered treatment?

THE DETAILS SO FAR . . .
• Official street date is December 18th for U.S. and Canada territories (Region A)
• Release will come with a slipcover (guaranteed for three months after its original release date)
• The newly-commissioned artwork pictured comes to us from artist Mark Maddox. This art will be front-facing and the reverse side of the wrap will showcase the original theatrical poster art design.
• Extras are still underway and will be announced later in Nov. We are reconfirming today though that we have an all-new High-Def transfer in the works.

CHRISTOPHER LEE SATURDAY! ON THE SET OF RISEN AND REMEMBERING WALTERS ON HIS 105TH BIRTHDAY!

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! Here is a rare and neat photograph taken during the making of Hammer films, 'Dracula Has Risen From The Grave' . .. with co stars Veronica Carlson and Barbara Ewing. Often when shooting, Lee was known not to hang around on set during the Hammer Dracula films... similar to Peter Cushing. So that makes this pic all the more interesting . . and NOT in costume either!

YOU CAN FIND PART ONE OF THAT ABOVE FEATURE : HERE!

SOMEONE WHO HAD quite a few connections with CHRISTOPHER LEE and would have been 105th TODAY is actor THORLEY WALTERS. THORLEY was known for often playing eccentric characters in a variety of different films, and a fair share with both PETER CUSHING and CHRISTOPHER LEE!

SUZAN FARMER 1942 - 2017

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! : News is just coming through that that actress SUZAN FARMER has died. This is sad to hear. Farmer has special place in lots of Hammer films fans hearts, BBC Sci Fi lovers too... She appeared quite a few features with Christopher Lee..in Devil Ship Pirates with Christopher Lee and was outstanding in Dracula, Prince of Darkness . . . her shock reaction to seeing the count in the room, when she thought she was safe in the monastery...was memorable.

A talented actress and certainly gifted . . with appearances in Blake's Seven, Dracula Prince of Darkness, UFO, The Persuaders, Rasputin, the Mad Monk . . . she has a not too shoddy a body of work. Do you have a favorite role of Suzan's??

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! REMEMBERING FRANCIS MATTHEWS

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY! Today we remember Francis Matthews a very talented actor, known for playing Paul Temple in the BBC series of the same name, as well as voicing Captain Scarlet… But he is best known here for his roles in 3 Hammer films Dracula Prince Of Darkness (1966) Rasputin The Mad Monk (1966) both co-starring Christopher Lee and The Revenge Of Frankenstein (1958) with Peter Cushing, with whom he remained close friends ..

IT'S A 'SLAPPY BIRTHDAY' from Peter Cushing to Francis Matthews in 'The Revenge of Frankenstein'

#CHRISTOPHERLEESATURDAY:Here's a GREAT #GIF from Hammer Films 'Dracula: Prince of Darkness' (1966) with Dracula (Christopher Lee) frighteningly displaying his supernatural-strength and attacking poor ol Charles Kent (Francis Matthews). Hammer, produced this film at Bray Studios, back to back with 'Rasputin The Mad Monk (1966) which also starred Francis Matthews, Barbara Shelley Susan Farmer and Christopher Lee . . .

CELEBRATED AND REMEMBERED: ADRIENNE CORRI AND ANTHONY NELSON KEYS

REMEMBERING: Anthony Nelson Keys, Born today November 13th 1911, sadly no longer with us. Worked as producer on many Hammer films and some of Peter Cushing's best work for the company. He started work at Hammer back in 1947, wrapping in 1969, with Frankenstein Must Be Destroyed, for which he also received a writer credit. A much loved character on and off the set, with ready smile and a joke. See how many photographs you can find without Nelson Keys laughing or kidding with the photographer..!
